Hello, nice to meet you
I'm Jakub Kępka, born in 1996 in Warsaw. I'm a fashion designer and painter who successfully combines both disciplines. I graduated from the International School of Fashion Design and Costume Design (MSKUPU) and am currently studying painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. My work, both in painting and fashion—especially avant-garde costumes—often explores themes of emotions and personal experiences.
My artistic journey began at the age of 10-12 when my mother sent me to drawing and painting classes in Milanówek. I quickly fell in love with art, though I faced resistance from my father and peers who didn't understand or support my artistic interests. Despite taking a long break during my teenage years, I eventually returned to my passion. After a challenging period in my personal life, I managed to complete high school and decided to pursue art instead of law.
I collaborate with the Contemporary Art Gallery DESA Unicum, where my works are available. I'm also active in organizing my own fashion shows, which have taken place at venues including the House of Polish Artists and Designers on Mazowiecka Street in Warsaw, the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and the Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw. Additionally, one of my costumes was worn by Luna, Poland's Eurovision representative, during the promotion of her song.
My work focuses on emotions, transforming difficult-to-control feelings into painting. My pieces, both paintings and fashion-related, address personal issues, heavy emotions, and traumas. Collections such as “All These Emotions,” “Act and Punishment,” and “Plasticity of Form” tell stories of my personal experiences. These series are never closed, as they evolve with my emotions and life. I also create photographic sessions related to clothing design, where I realize my personal visions—every element, from background to scenario and clothing, is designed and made by me.
